Scarf display

I need something to display my scarves. Here is my quick and dirty tutorial. Let us begin.
Concrete for the base.
Cardboard box, duh.
Using a hanger for the approximate size of the stand
My husband is forcing me to be technical in my tracing
Lines are drawn and ready for cutting
Draw on both sides, use the natural edge of the box for easy construction
Cut, cut, cut!
Here it is: cut out and ready for glueing
But wait! I need a hole for the dowel
Here is the hole - perfectly centered
Now fold together and tape.
Plug in glue gun. It will get used!
Felt to cover the fact that this is cardboard.
Fancy end seams - so professional
Properly felted
Stick dowel in base to puncture through, do not glue
Add cement to pot, add water and mix
Add dowel and then push the floral foam to the bottom of the pot
I did this in the wash basin, in case of leakage
Add top, tulle and fabric to cover the base - voila!
As always, may you find comfort in your life and leave questions below! Want to see what goes on this scarf hanger? Check out and buy my products here!

Green tomato salsa

Green Tomato Salsa
One of my all time favorites to make and very easy! I am missing summer so here is a throwback recipe!

Ingredients:
8 lbs Green tomatoes
4 lbs Tomatillos
1 1/2 Bunches of cilantro
4 Stalks of celery
2 Green peppers
2 Onions
1 lime  (set aside for last)
Salt to taste

And then any hot peppers you like, I used :
Banana, poblano, jalapeƱo, anaheim, zerrano, and one small habanero - because I am daring and my husband likes it hot!

I start by chopping up all of the vegetables except for the tomatoes and tomatillos and hot peppers
I chopped mine really fine

I recommend removing all of the seeds from any peppers used, as they create the most heat (and consequently take away from the flavor).
Using a food processor I chopped the tomatoes and tomatillos and then added them to the other chopped ingredients. I taste as I go so not to get it too hot. Start with the milder peppers working up to the hottest ones you want to use.

I used the whole lime, peeling included. Put it through the food processor and then add to your bowl of salsa. Note: you can use vinegar instead of the lime, I like the flavoring you get from the lime however.

Add your salt and then refrigerate over night to let flavor blend.

I used green beef steak tomatoes for this batch and my salsa is sweet with a tang and bite at the end. (Now I sound like a wine taster, don't be mistaken I am merely a wine drinker.) I jarred some for later use, but really I had to because I made so much and my daughter lives too far away for me to slip it onto her doorstep. Of course anywhere but in my own household would be too far away for my daughter to be living.

Makes a great base for Creole foods or even Chili. Try making Crock Pot Cheese Dip: 1 pint jar of salsa mixed with 1 block white cheese, melt together. Yummy. Now I am hungry. May you find comfort in your own full belly!

New for Three Comforts

Spent my day working working with rose petals, honey, and aloe vera gel, and I must admit, I've mixed up some wonderful items.

What a wonderful mixture of lovely scents and wholesome goodness.
I thought I'd let you all know about some of the benefits of the items I've used in these new products. Let's start with honey:

Did you know that honey is a natural humectant which means that it naturally draws moisture from the air into your skin. This why I'm adding it to my products, that I am selling in Minnesota, in the winter. Get it? Because it's so cold and dry here!

Next up, rose petals. They smell wonderful, and have antibacterial properties. Rose petals are very good for dry cracked skin conditions, helping to lock moisture into your skin.

Aloe vera gel helps heal and it also protects your skin. With anti-aging properties as an added bonus, who does not want to look younger and feel whole?

I've finished my day in the kitchen and now have 3 new items for my business, just in time for the cold weather.

Honey Rose Lip Balm, Honey Rose Lotion, and  Rose Honey Salt Scrubs

If you use the code "rose" on Etsy I'll give you a Honey Rose Lip Balm for free with minimum  purchase of $10.00! May you find comfort in my winter rose deal!
